Grade 8 Theory Exam 是ABRSM提供的最後一份音樂理論考試。這個級別類似於在英國本科階段學習的大學課程
。


問題1 - 考試從巴洛克式三重奏奏鳴曲開始，需要根據低音(Figured Bass)來完成
，並應符合典型的巴洛克風格。

問題2 - 要求您完成一首鍵盤(Keyboard Reconstruction)曲式。。


問題3 - 作曲 一首 12 - 16Bar 的主旋律 要有兩次轉Key (Modulation)。


問題4-5 - 考試中的最後兩個問題是測試

Grade 5 Theory 5級樂理考試

ABRSM的5級音樂理論考試：

•了解西方音樂的符號，包括常用的音樂術語
•了解基本的音樂元素，如Interval，Keys，Scales和Chord

•將理論知識和理解應用於Tonal音樂次上。

Developing literacy with the tonal language forms a key part of a rounded education for  performers,  composers  and  listeners  of  all  kinds.  An  understanding  of  how written symbols relate to the elements of music, and having the skills to interpret and translate them into sounds, empowers us to communicate and experience music in a  meaningful  way.  Without  knowledge  of  notation  it  is  impossible  for  classical musicians  to  access  their  repertoire  with  ease  or  to  rehearse  together;  and  this repertoire could not be heard at all had composers not been able to write it down. So,  music  theory  is  a  very  practical  subject  that  is  completely  entwined  with performance and composition.

ABRSM’s Grade 5 Music Theory exams give students opportunities to acquire:

• a knowledge of the notation of western music, including the signs and terminology commonly employed
• an understanding of fundamental musical elements such as intervals, keys, scales and chords 
• skill in constructing balanced rhythmic patterns or completing given melodic or harmonic structures
• an ability to apply theoretical knowledge and understanding to score analysis Candidates are assessed on their ability to identify, use and manipulate conventional musical  symbols,  to  complete  extracts  and  to  answer  questions  relating  to  the elements  of  music  according  to  the  grade-by-grade  parameters  detailed on  the following pages.

Grade 8 Q1 完成簡單的TRIO SONATA

什麼是Sonata
 
       Sonata指的只是器樂曲，用演奏的音樂，相對於Cantata則是用唱的音樂，就是聲樂曲。在不同時期，Sonata這個字又分別代表不同意思，但是原意不變 – 器樂曲。最早沒有明確結構與樂章數，就是演奏曲的意思。
 
       巴洛克時期，最常見的奏鳴曲(器樂曲)是 Trio Sonata 三重奏鳴曲。他的編制是兩個旋律樂器加一組數字低音組成的樂曲。三重奏鳴曲同時代表 1. 曲式 2. 編制 (曲式、編制等一下會一直出現，這是最容易混亂的點)。
 
       他的曲式通常建立在四個樂章的基礎上。由慢、快、慢、快組成。Trio Sonata 又分兩類，Sonata da Chiesa (教會奏鳴曲) 和 Sonata da Camera (室內奏鳴曲)。教會奏鳴曲通常用於正式場合，較嚴肅，最大特徵是第二樂章通常是賦格。室內奏鳴曲較輕鬆，通常用舞曲性格創作。

怎樣作一首簡單的TRIO SONATA (Grade 8 Exam Q1)

要聽起來像TRIO SONATA秘訣在於每個Bar的第一拍上，

他決定了那小節的Chord和Inversion,

那任何在第一拍之外的音符都是Melodic Decoration。

有些Rules 是要記住的:

- 在Cadence，Rise 4th 或 Fall 5th 的是常見的

- 沒有7th Leaps。

- Augmented 和 Diminished的要小心處理。

- Main Melody的每個音符通常對應於和弦的inversion。

我們將使用Trio Sonata by Telemann（TWV 42 in A minor）作為例子。

在Bar 1中，Bar的前兩節是Am小調。其中 E-A-C 作為旋律裝飾音 (Decoration)

是harmonic auxiliary notes。

在Bar1的下半節，Chord是E Major 大和弦，B 是主要的Chord音.

所以第一節的Chord 是Am - E.

當你編寫自己的Melody時，開始一個簡單的“Melody”，

然後把一些裝飾音(Melodic Decoration)放在主Melody 之間。這樣，可確保旋律聽起來更合理，而不是一些Random的 “音符”

通常的裝飾音(Melodic Decoration)有：

‧Passing notes
‧Auxiliary notes
‧Harmonic auxiliary notes
‧Suspensions
‧Anticipations
‧Retardations
‧Changing notes

我們試試作一些Main Melody 給上面的例子. 已經有Chord和Figure Bass.

C - G Am - E - Am - G - C - G

有些Rules 是要注意的

- 不可Double Leading Note - e.g. Dm - G -C. G是dominant 7 不可Double B音

- 沒有consecutive perfect 5ths/8ves

- 沒有和bass 有 similar motion 3rds/6ths

- bass和其中部分用contrary motion

- 5音可Omitted (除了 6-4 chord 和 Dim Chord)

完成Soparo後，添加第二部分(Alto)。作Alto時應該：

- 不Double 3 音 (除非是First Inversion, Dim)

- Soparo Alto 不可以cross。

- 不要讓三個部分都有Similar Motion。

現在，我們需要添加(Melodic Decoration)來完成全首。
